Christine was a passionate and committed choral singer who served as Executive Director of the Sangerstevne for over 10 years. The first London Sangerstevne was held in 2004 with approximately a hundred singers and seven or eight choirs performing on one day. Christine was central to making the Sangerstevne the successful three-day event with 600+ singers that it is today.
She had long dreamed of holding the event at Cadogan Hall which finally came true in 2017 - just two days before she died. When she found out she had terminal cancer in April 2017, Christine had one more dream to realise: to commission a choral piece by the composer Jacques Cohen. Unfortunately – Christine ran out of time. Inspired by her deep love of music, energy and determination we, her friends and fellow choristers, are now looking to make this last dream come true.
You can help commission the choral piece in a number of ways:
‘Buy a Bar’ of the composition. The idea is to sponsor a bar of the composition . For £20 you will receive your sponsored bar personally signed by the composer – once the whole choral piece is complete. Please see the online form below for how to do this.
